Her mother is from The American South and her father from New York. She was born at Northern Virginia, USA. (Fairfax, Arlington, Great Falls, VA). She graduated from Langley High School, McLean, VA. Graduated Barnard College, with a bachelor's degree in English. She was a graduate of Southern Methodist University in acting with a master's degree. She was raised by one parent who was a single father. She was 5 when her parents separated. In her early years, she wanted to play the jockey. But her height made it impossible.
